Birthday or Dinner Party
The hotel was constructed on a corner of Fayetteville Street; Raleigh’s broad main street. At the time, The Sir Walter was the most massive building in the south portion of the downtown business district. By 1925, the Sir Walter was home to over 80 percent of the state legislatures, in addition to lobbyists, aides, jurors, newspapermen, businessmen and other influential individuals over the next three decades.
